CLIMATE JUSTICE RESILIENCE FUND (CJRF)

 

PROJECT OBJECTIVE: To demonstrate women expertise in resilience, securing resources and public recognition for grassroots and indigenous women and consolidating the knowledge and tools that support wider replication.

  • ORRISSA’s approach to community resilience building;

     

    Engaging grassroots women and their groups take on the challenges of Climate Risks.

     


    Help develop community coping strategies before cyclone and heavy wind/rain prediction. Addressing vulnerable family/person needs and ensuring safety and survival for all.

     


    Map the existing resource base of the families and that of the community to position them during the need and also use these to build stronger resilience.

     


    To support the vulnerable women headed households and other vulnerable families to build on their food and income security focused on village economy approach. (livelihoods to serve the local communities)



    Work with local grampanchayat and government institutions to bring in support before, during and post disaster period.



    Work on a long term plan to diversify the local food production landscape as well as income aspirations of the vulnerable groups.

  • Engaging public institutions in the community resilience building process

     

    Working on Climate Knowledge (forecasting, prepairedness, stakeholder engagement, bringing in public policy framework for the most vulnerable segments) reaching to the grassroots.



    Create bench marks in addressing community vulnerability mapping and protecting the vulnerable segments.



    Engage stakeholders to continuously work on evolving strategies and methods of reducing vulnerability and going extra mile to work with research and policy framing institutions.



    Build community knowledge building process on resilience in active collaboration with the governance mechanism of the state.



    Bring in appropriate technologies to aid to the community resilience building process and securing/diversifying locally viable livelihoods.
